Summer's Here!

Hey guys, it's Andy here. I have officially been done with my finals since last Friday afternoon (my birthday), and I have been trying to relax since. I already received an A in one of my classes so it's looking great so far. I feel like I did well. Remember, if you come out of a final and know that you gave it your all, then you should feel good about it. Good luck to those who are still taking them though!

So today's blog will just focus on some updates of my life. First things first. I will be blogging in the summer again! I love blogging, as you guys can see, so it should be another fun summer with random updates. I will be working in UMass Lowell for summer employment, so I will provide lots of updates about the school as well. They are renovating a lot of buildings so maybe I can take a peak at it to provide updates.

My birthday was on Friday and I made it over to Fenway Park to celebrate it. Heading out to the city always lightened up my mood, and I needed it that day. My father got into a big accident in the highway. My father was okay, but the car was not. That's the frustrating part. Now I don't have a way to get to work! I am scrambling to find out a way to get to work and that's been stressing me out. Not a good way to begin the summer but I am trying to look at everything positively.

I rarely get comments (that aren't spam), but I am curious to know what you all are doing for the summer. If you have anything, let me know. You can always contact me through Twitter for any suggestions or comments. I really do care what people are thinking, especially who are reading this!

Let's all keep our fingers crossed for a good week. I feel so apologetic for my work study employers but they were very understanding. I'll hopefully have a solution by next week and I will be blogging in a much happier mood (maybe) haha. Until then, study hard and stay healthy! It's going to get hot soon.

Less Than A Week Away!

Are you guys excited? School is back and it's time to welcome the newest members to our great school. Thursdays marks the first day of classes and I'm already hearing a lot of anticipation and excitement in the atmosphere. As I mentioned in my previous blog post, the university has a lot of great activities planned for the students, so make sure you take advantage of it.

Amidst all this excitement, Hurricane Irene hovers over us and it's supposedly hitting it big here tomorrow. I won't lie, I am slightly frightened. I am hoping that no one gets hurt and the power doesn't go out here. It's going to be pretty frustrating to stay in the house if all the power is out.

By the way, I see everyone asking this on the Class of 2015 Facebook Group for UML students: "Where do we purchase our books and how do we know which ones are correct?" Well the answer is pretty simple for me. Wait until the first day of classes! The professors will clearly tell you what books you will need and where to get it. I personally use Amazon for all my purchases as they have used books at an affordable price. Anyhow, if you are worried about "not having the books in time," then don't worry about that. The professors won't be as harsh. I do understand though, for the students living in dorms, need to create a mailbox for delivery and such, but if you are willing to save some bucks, I'd suggest you create one anyway.

I won't have my first day of classes until Wednesday of next week, so I am going to get even more rest and video gaming into my system. A new semester always comes with a lot of pressure, but sometimes it's fun to tackle that pressure. I wish you all the best of luck this semester!

Follow me on Twitter and Facebook! I welcome all new friends. Let's meet on campus!
In an effort to enhance the blogging experience, I will be trying out various ways to improve the quality and make it more fun for you guys!

So I have been exploring so far this summer, and it has been a positive experience so far. Let's look at my list of 10 things that I enjoyed, and you should consider doing as well!

7. Competition

I am starting the list off easy. I didn't want to write down sports, since not everyone is a sports fan. But everyone does have an interest or a hobby. Use that to participate in a competition. Whether that may be entering a drawing contest or participating in a chess competition, it doesn't matter. Fuel yourself this summer. Pick up some fun motivation to look forward to everyday.

6. Camping

I always suggest camping to people and they tell me how much they hate it. My only advice is that you give it a shot! I tried it a couple years ago and fell in love with it ever since. It's a great experience. And trust me, everything tastes better outside.

5. Beach Trip

We are lucky to live in New England, where beaches are rather close to us than other places. Take advantage of it. Going to the beach for a couple hours, getting a tan, and dipping in the ocean is always fun. You can always bring your mp3 player and relax on the sand. Fun.

4. Arcade

I just ended up going last week and spent a good amount of money, but it was all worth it. I played all the games I possibly could have played and still had some money left. Sometimes, we all need to forget about things and just enjoy ourselves. Arcade is the perfect way to do that. Don't sit at home playing video games all day!

3. Water Park

Six Flags. Water Country. Canobie Lake Park. Whatever you prefer. I'm sure all of you have been there before. This is one part of summer you shouldn't miss. Water parks are there for you and you have to go. Pick a hot day, and some day in the week like a Tuesday. There won't be a lot of traffic and you'll still have fun. Lines are a pain in the neck, so Tuesday is a good day.

2. Visit another state

Do your own research through Google and find a place you can visit! It will be worth it. As I mentioned, I have been doing some explorations and I have found great places in other states. Rhode Island always offer something exciting and fun so I like going there. I will be visiting Connecticut later on, as well as New Hampshire. Google is your friend. Things that you want to do may be far away, but it's worth it.

1. Try Something New

This last suggestion is really for those of you with secret ambitions. If you ever wanted to try something, just try it. My friend cut his hair into a mohawk this summer. That's bold. I remember dying my hair blonde one summer, for the hell of it. Those are some of those things I am talking about. Change is good...most of the time.

Hope you enjoyed it!
