Hi guys,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving… I hope you guys had the chance to spend some quality time with your family and had the chance to live the crazy experience of Black Friday…. I had a great time, I ate a lot food and I spent some money buying presents for Christmas…
I had a good time this weekend but I also needed this small vacation time to work on some homework and get ready for two interviews I have next week. I’ve been working all day long making power point slides and preparing for the presentations. My boyfriend also has a presentation to give for an interview; therefore, we have been practicing and given each other positive and negative criticism about the presentation. This way we are helping each other to be prepared for our interviews.
When I was making the power point presentation for one of my interviews I found the following quote: “I don't like that man. I must get to know him better” by Abraham Lincoln. In my presentation I want to include that having a positive attitude at the workplace make a huge difference in accomplishing goals. Thinking always positive and bring a smile wherever you go can be the bridge to success or failure. When I came across this quote, it really made me realize how we can change our thinking to see the world in a different way. Don’t ever be negative, change your mind set to a positive one. Change the “I don’t want to fail tomorrow’s test” for a “I want to pass tomorrow’s test”
This is the mind set I’m going with to those interviews. I want to give a great presentation, show that I’m a quick learner, team player and a hard working person. We are almost done with this semester; the next couple of weeks might get a little crazy for many of you. I encourage you to have a plan, be organized and always be a good attitude to class.

There are some things I wish someone told me when I was a freshman in school. This weekend we had a small Open House in the College of Engineering. The main purpose of this Open House was to showcase many of the labs and research groups in school. The Electrical Engineering Department invited my research group to open the doors of our lab and share our projects with future UML students.
Many kids came along with the parents in this tour around our department. We showed them what our research is all about and how we got to where we are. We also had the chance to talk to them and their parents as well about our experience in school. In our talk we emphasized the importance of getting involved in school to get certain skills that are hardly taught in the classroom. Being involved in research groups or student organizations helps you in the long run.
We encouraged them to build a relationship with their professors and get involved in a research lab. Being part of a research group is an experience that helps you not only to strengthen your technical skills but also to build other skills you are going to need when working in a company. Skills such as learning how to be a team player and meet work under pressure to meet deadlines are critical when joining the workforce.
I had a great time talking to future students and their parents. I hope that they take my advise and all the opportunities available in school. Don't be afraid to ask professors if you can get involved in their research lab or a project, it's worth it.

I hope everyone had a nice weekend... I had a long and interesting weekend.. I've been partying, studying a lot and working on a project due tomorrow... I've been very busy and entertained throughout my weekend...
My weekend actually started last Thursday when I went to a Benny Bennassi party in Boston. I didn't know who he was but my boyfriend and his friends were very excited to go see him. As soon as they mentioned it to me I supposed that he was a famous electro house DJ and I wasn't wrong.. Benny Benassi is an Italian DJ well known in Europe... I actually have heard his music before... Do you guys recall "satisfaction"? That's actually his most famous hit. I'm not a fan of this type of music but I enjoyed it to the fullest.. I really had a good time with my friends...
Then on Friday I just worked on my lab and started studying for my Mobile Communication Networks class test for tomorrow night. This is a very interesting class but there was a lot of material to cover.. We are allowed to have a cheat sheet and it took me several hours going through the material and making my cheat sheet... I thought I would never finish it.. Just until today I'm finally ready to take the exam...
After Friday my weekend kept on going... Last night (Saturday) I went to a Colombian Party organized by the Colombian Committee of the Merrimack Valley. It was a great night, we honored the Independence of Cartagena (one of the main cities in Colombia and a very touristic one). We had great food and music.. I had a great time dancing merengue, salsa, bachata and more with my family, friends and boyfriend..
Finally, today is my last day of this long weekend.. I just spent it doing homework and finishing by lab.. I have to confess that I started watching TV and it's taking me longer than what it should've but at least I finished...
I'm going to end my weekend with watching the Patriots game tonight.. They're playing the Steelers and the have the same record (6-2)... I hope we win!!!

So we can say that winter has officially started.. After changing the clocks back we are having more of a winter feeling nowadays.. Days are getting shorter and nights longer.. We also started to experience colder weather with rain and some snow....
Sometimes this weather can turn out to be boring or even depressing but every year I see it as a season of change in our daily routine... We can now go skiing, snowboarding and more... Also, the best movies of the year come out during the winter time... We always have to look at the bright side of the situation; otherwise, we would be stuck in a world were we feel we are not part of... I love enjoying an afternoon outside under the sun but in this occasion I can't and there's nothing to do about it but just to enjoy what we have around us...
Many of you already know I like searching the web for quotes, they always give me a message. Today, I found this one: " One kind word can warm three winter months". This quote really made me think about how we can make our lives better and other people's as well... Just by saying the appropriate words we can change how people see the world... That's why today I wanted to share my view of what winter means to me... It's means an opportunity to change and do something different... I'm looking forward to three months of cold and snow but also to the fun I can have and the holiday moments I will share with my family and friends...
I've heard many people complaining lately about the weather and they want to move down weather to Florida or California... With these words i'd like to put a smile of their faces and make them realized the good things about living up here...
Just look at life with a different perspective and always look at the bright side of it.. I'm pretty sure that bu changing your point of view you can make these long winter months much warmer that what they actually are going to be...

I wasn't sure about what I could talk today.. I was thinking about telling you what I did this weekend in Cincinnati but after searching on the web for a while I came up with a great idea...
I wanted to share with you guys a tool I've been using lately to save all my documents and important files... This tool is called Dropbox which is a file hosting service that uses cloud computing technology.This means that users can upload files in the internet and access them anywhere as long they are connected...
What I really like about Dropbox is that it creates a folder in my personal computer and syncs files across all the devices where I set up my Dropbox account. This tool is very easy to use and I can access my files anywhere without the need of an USB drive.
Also, Dropbox gives the option to create shared files with friends, classmates, co-workers or whoever you want to share a file with... every time a file is modified and saved it will also sync your friend's folder... Isn't that cool? I really enjoy this tool and I'm using it more and more... I have no longer the need to email files back and forth with my teammates, this process takes long and fills up my inbox very quickly...
And if it is for space you are worrying about they have the solution... when you open the account in various devices such as PCs, laptops and iPhones, you get extra space for each device you set up your account on... Also, every time you recommend a friend and they sign up you can also get extra space... If you are really interested in keeping your files organized and having easy access to them this might be a good tool for you.. It works for me!!!
