Going back to class was much different for me this semester. Since I took last spring off to go on co-op, I am now making up all of my junior classes. In plastics engineering we primarily use two classrooms, Ball 206 and 208. So most students tend to stick to the same seats as if they were assigned. My biggest fear was that I would take someone else’s seat, and they would just walk in and punch me right in the face. That would be a terrible way to start the semester.
Needless to say that didn’t happen. I have a lot of friends in my classes. What sucks is that I have four back to back classes on Monday, a two hour break, and then a four hour lab. I much rather prefer having breaks in between classes to study or do homework.
On the bright side, this is really my last semester of hard classes. After this semester I will only have to do my electives and Chemistry II. Hopefully I can do well enough this year to raise my GPA. I got a 3.7 last semester which raised my cumulative .2! I hope everyone had a good time going back to class and seeing some familiar faces. Good luck with your first week!
There is only one week left before spring classes’ start. It’s too bad because I was really starting to get used to my work schedule. I enjoy working 4 long days and having 3 days off instead of the typical Monday through Friday 9 to 5 routine. My schedule now is to work 3 days a week, 7am to 7pm, and then Saturday 7am to 4pm. If my current job was more permanent, I would try to negotiate working Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday.
Unfortunately, the job that I have gotten so used to is a temporary position, I am a full time student and it is almost time to go back to school. I am going to be very busy this next semester, so I will only be able to work about 18 hours. It’s going to be difficult working and studying again, but it will be good. I like being kept busy. Hopefully I can enjoy my last week off, and hopefully get out snowboarding one more time. Enjoy the rest of your break everyone!
I usually wait until February to start wondering when it is going to get warm again, but I am already starting to look forward to this up coming summer. The main reason I can’t wait for summer is the summer movies coming out. Here is the list of movies I am looking forward to:
Transformers 2: I wasn’t a huge fan of the cartoon show when I was a kid, but in 2007, Michael Bay’s: Transformer’s kicked ass! I can’t wait for the sequel. Searching on YouTube I found video’s of Transformers 2 being filmed. All of the autobots are GM cars, just like the last one, but there are a few new cars: a Chevy Trax, a Chevy Beats, which are two new cars coming out soon, and the new Corvette concept. I also heard there is going to be a Buell Firebolt transformer. It looks like it is going to be a great movie.
Fast and the Furious 4: Although a lot of people badmouth the franchise I have personally found it very entertaining. The original was great, the second one was ok, and I am watching Tokyo Drift right now. The new one is going to have the original cast; Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and more. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, YouTube it.
X-Men Origins: There is also a new X-Men film coming out about Wolverine. This one looks like it is also going to be great. You get all of the action of Wolverine and none of the corny love scenes with Rouge and pretty boy Iceman. The trailer also reveals that Gambit is going to be in the movie, and he was my favorite from the x-men.
And that’s just the beginning, the list goes on: Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince, Star Trek, Watchmen. On cold snowy days like today, it is good to look forward to something warm. Enjoy your winter break while it lasts!
