March 2009 Archives
So today was the last day of spring break and I had a great time. This year, I spent my spring break inÖLowell. Haha, couldnít afford to go anywhere nice this year, but I did a few things that made the past week very fun. Hopefully this gives you an idea of some fun things to do around here.
1. Bowling at Brunswick Zone- Down the VFW highway toward Tyngsboro, there is a nice place to spend an evening with some friends. Brunswick Zone is a 10 pin style bowling alley with about 40 lanes. They have cosmic bowling and cheap games on Thursday nights. Cosmic bowling can be a little bit expensive, but itís a fun time. Iím not very good at bowling, I only got 62 pins my first game, but two games later I ended with a 119!
2. Drove my motorcycle around town- The weather was a little bit chilly this week, but driving a motorcycle in New England, you need to take what you can get. I put the battery in on Monday and it started right up. Iíve been riding my bike around all week and itís been awesome! I canít wait until summer and I can drive it every day.
3. IMAX movies at Jordanís Furniture- the IMAX Theater at Jordanís Furniture is a great place to go. I went Monday night to see Watchmen, which was a really good movie. They also have a Fuddruckers there, which is one of my favorite burger joints. Great food and the most amazing movie theater around is more than enough of a reason for me to go to Jordanís Furniture in Reading or Natick. The reading location is only about an hour away from Lowell.
I had a great time relaxing and not worrying about tests or homework this past week. I am feeling refreshed and ready to go back to school.
Itís the last week before spring break, and Iím sure a lot of you have exams coming up. I have three, and I just had two last week. Thatís one exam for each of my five classes. It looks like I need to really crack down and study these next few days. I really want to do well on these tests. I have been putting out B work all semester, but thatís not good enough anymore, I need to get Aís.
I had another interview with Residence Life yesterday, and I think it went very well. However the applicant pool is very large this year. There are approximately 300 people applying for only about 120 positions. I have my fingers crossed that they will hire me, and I will find out the week after spring break.
As far as spring break, I do not have any plans. I will probably relax, enjoy a few days off, and maybe get some extra hours in at work. I hope the weather will be cool enough for me to get out snowboarding. I am a little bummed about not going anywhere, but there is always next year. Good luck with your last week before spring break!
Everyone loves a snow day. I have made myself a deal, that the next time there was a snow day I would go out snowboarding. Unfortunately I would have to break that deal since I have so much school work to do this week. Nevertheless, a snow day would definitely help me catch up. It would give me all the class time to do homework, and I wouldnít have lab, so there wouldnít be a report do next week.
I wonít feel too bad about not going snowboarding, because spring break is right around the corner. So far, I donít have any plans for spring break. My girlfriend and I are looking up things to do. Last year we went to Montreal with a couple of her friends. Montreal was a lot of fun, but not very warm. I have been considering taking some time to get away, but money is kind of tight at the moment. So if I were to go away for spring break, it would need to be within driving distance. One idea is to drive to Montreal for one night, then drive to Toronto the next day. We could stop by Burlington, VT on the way to Montreal, and see Buffalo and Rochester NY on the way back. It would be nice if we could pull it off.
Iím keeping my fingers crossed for that snow day!
